Introduction

The Department and Graduate Institute of Accounting and the Master of Business Administration (MBA) program were founded in 1993. The undergraduate program (B.S. in Accounting) was later set up in 1997. Since our establishment, our department has been encouraging students to expand their horizon and interests in various fields of business, in addition to developing their professionalism in accounting. Our programs focus on fostering students' independent thinking ability and on strengthening their writing and communication skills.

Undergraduate Program

Our program's integrated curriculum is designed to prepare students to become an effective and versatile manager with necessary skills to overcome the challenges in today's dynamic global business environment. Recognizing the need in the industry for professional training in both Accounting and Information Management, our department designed a special curriculum which includes several required integrated courses in both fields.

Our four-year undergraduate program offers the degree of Bachelor of Accounting and Information Technology. All undergraduate students must complete a minimum of 143 credits, which include 83 credits of core courses in Accounting and 18 credits of courses in Information Management. We also designed a curriculum for students to accomplish the requirements for a secondary major in Information Management within 5 years.

MBA Program

The purpose of our MBA program is to cultivate high-ranking accounting and IT managers, and to provide rigorous analytical training for students who will pursue doctoral degree or academic career in these two areas. Students are required to take courses in Accounting and Information Technology. Our department also have a cooperative plan with Oracle Taiwan, Inc. which will provide training support for ERP implementation for our students. In addition to these courses, research methodology courses are required so that every student can learn the analytical and empirical methods for research.

The Graduate Institute of Accounting and Information Technology offers a two-year program leading to the degree of Master of Business Administration. A minimum of 24 credits of coursework plus a master's thesis are required for the MBA program.

EMBA Program

Our executive MBA program is aimed to provide industry’s high ranking professionals an opportunity to develop the analytical skills and tools that they need in their complex, ever-changing organizations. This program is designed to meet the needs of individuals who typically work during the weekdays, so all of our courses are offered during the weekends.

This program's curriculum emphasizes on the integration of accounting practice and information management technology. The required courses for our EMBA students are tailor-made to make up their relative weakness in Accounting or Information Technology. The curriculum emphasizes on Accounting for students with background in Information Technology; on the other hand, for students with background in Information Technology, the curriculum is emphasized in Accounting and general management. Thanks for the assistance from Oracle Taiwan, Inc., our students will enjoy the benefit of hands-on training opportunity with ERP implementation.

Our courses are offered in group discussion and case study modes.  Teamwork study is our major scheme. Real industry cases and problems are brought up in class not only to promote discussion among faculty member and practitioners but also to provide consulting advice for students to resolve their companies's current problems.

Our program requires 42 credit hours of courses, which include 15 credits of required courses, 21 credits of elective courses, and 6 credits for thesis. A master's thesis is also required under the supervision of the student's thesis adviser.
